Today, Nipissing University celebrated the official launch of Rare Dementia Support (RDS) Canada, a national support service for people living with rare or young onset dementia led by Dr. Mary Pat Sullivan, Professor of Social Work and Social Gerontology. -
Nipissing professor named Canada Research Chair in Climate and Environmental Change
ResearchGeneralYesterday, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced an investment of more than $139 million to support 176 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs across Canada. Nipissing University is pleased to congratulate Dr. Colin McCarter who has been named Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Climate and Environmental Change and the recipient of $600,000 in funding. McCarter is an Assistant Professor cross-appointed in the Department of Geography and the Department of Biology and Chemistry in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University. -
Nipissing partnering in delivery of new micro-credential addressing knowledge gaps in growing neurotech industry
Nipissing University is pleased to partner in the delivery of a new program led by Queen’s University designed to address knowledge gaps in the growing neurotech sector, a field gaining increasing prominence with initiatives such as Elon Musk’s Neuralink and Meta (formerly Facebook) Reality Lab’s use of neural signals to enhance virtual reality applications. -
Lake Nipissing Beading Project Opens to Public this Friday
Canada Research ChairResearchNipissing University is pleased to announce the public launch of the Lake Nipissing Beading Project (LNBP), a five-metre community-based reimagining of Lake Nipissing and its tributaries and waterways, combining 444 individually-beaded pieces. -
New Exhibit Honours Legacy of Paul Commanda and Indigenous Guides
ResearchA new exhibit, developed in partnership with Nipissing First Nation, Dokis First Nation, Nipissing University and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History (Pittsburgh), is now on display at the North Bay Museum, honouring the work of Paul Commanda, the Nbisiiing Guides and their contributions to science. Entitled Our Guides are Really Going Places/Nishnaabeg e-paamwingewaad waasa zhaawag: Nbisiiing Guides and the Legacy of Paul Commanda, the exhibit showcases the photographs and stories of the Indigenous Guides who led the Carnegie Museum expeditions that occurred between 1901 and 1958. -

NU360 Speaker Night highlights faculty research at Nipissing
Students, faculty, and community members packed the NUSU Student Centre on March 4 for the annual NU360 Speaker Night. Six faculty presenters each had 360 seconds to showcase their research, offering a glimpse into the breadth and depth of research at Nipissing.
