Hours of Work: 5-10 hours per week (evenings and weekends)

Rate of Pay: $17.60 per hour + Vacation as determined by HR policy

Job Description:

The Athletics Front Desk Staff will assist in the operation and day-to-day workings of the R.J. Surtees Athletic Centre. This role provides frontline customer service support while helping maintain a safe, welcoming, and well‑presented facility. The position supports events, bookings, and general administrative and facility needs, including regular cleaning of fitness spaces.

Duties Include:

Customer Service & Front Desk Operations

  • Provide general customer service at the front desk, including greeting and assisting students, staff, members, and visitors
  • Monitor access to the facility by checking student cards and passes in accordance with Athletics policies
  • Answer general inquiries in person, by phone, or by email, and direct questions or concerns to appropriate staff
  • Support a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment at all times

Facility Operations & Event Support

  • Assist with setting up and tearing down all three gyms, fitness studios, turf field, and other spaces for varsity, internal, and external events (e.g., games, practices, camps, tournaments)
  • Assist with preparing for incoming events and bookings, including equipment placement and space readiness
  • Provide general assistance in the day-to-day operation of the R.J. Surtees Athletic Centre

Facility Presentation & Cleaning

  • Assist with maintaining the general presentation of the facility
  • Perform regular cleaning and tidying of the weight room and cardio room, including wiping down equipment and ensuring spaces are orderly and safe
  • Identify and report facility or equipment issues to full-time staff as required

Administrative Support

  • Complete basic administrative tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program
