Nipissing University well represented in The North Now Exhibition

Three members from our Nipissing University community have recently had their work selected for the exhibition The North Now, a northern Ontario juried art exhibition, being held at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. Amanda Burk (Associate Professor, Department of Fine and Performing Arts), Heather Saunders (Manager of Reference and Information Services/ Part-Time Faculty), and Jaymie Lathem (Alumni, BFA graduate 2011) all currently have work showing in this multi-disciplinary exhibition.

The North Now is the first juried exhibition organized by the Thunder Bay Art Gallery in ten years. The jury consisted of: David Garneau, Artist and Associate Professor, University of Regina; Carol Podedworny, Director and Chief Curator of the McMaster Museum of Art; and Dr. Andrea Terry, Art Historian, Lakehead University. Fifty-two artists had their submissions accepted into this competitive exhibition.

“This exhibition provides a glimpse of the immense creativity, diversity and innovation by established and emerging artists living in the north of the province,” writes Nadia Kurd, Curator, Thunder Bay Art Gallery.

The exhibition runs from October 24, 2014 - January 4, 2015
