Burk work published and upcoming exhibition

Congratulations to Amanda Burk, assistant professor in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, whose work has recently been included in The New Collectors Book, second edition (Basak Malone LLC). The book launched January 5, 2013, at Ward-Nasse Gallery in New York. The New Collectors Book is as a showcase publication that includes a diverse range of artwork from international artists.

Burk has also recently received an Exhibition Assistance Grant from the Ontario Arts Council in support of her work that was included in the Grimsby Public Art Gallery Biannual Juried Exhibition 2012 this past Fall. Burk received Second Place in this exhibition.

Burk is currently preparing for a solo exhibition titled Full Circle, at the Jordan Art Gallery in the Niagara region. The exhibition will run February 2 – March 31, 2013, and will feature Burk’s work from her Dual series, including four new charcoal drawings. The Dual series playfully contemplates ideas surrounding symbiotic relationships and cohabitation, and was also motivated by ideas around cellular division, conception and the animal nature of our biology.
