North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre

Status: Permanent, full time, 35 hrs/week 

Salary:  $40,622 - $54,964/year 

Accountability: This position is accountable to the Executive Director. 


Position Overview: 
The Human Resource Assistant (HRA) will play a key role in supporting the HR functions at the North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre. This individual will be responsible for assisting with a variety of human resources tasks, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and maintaining employee records. The Human Resource Assistant (HRA) will work closely with the Human Resources Manager to ensure that the organization is compliant with labor laws, respectful of Indigenous cultural practices, and fosters an inclusive, positive work environment. 

Qualifications: 

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Indigenous Studies, Business Administration, or related field. 
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an HR or administrative role, preferably in a non-profit or Indigenous-focused organization. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, communities, and the unique challenges faced by Indigenous peoples. 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams. 
  • Familiarity with employment laws, human resources practices, and confidentiality requirements in Ontario and Canada. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), HR software, and database management systems. 
  • Ability to work in a culturally respectful and inclusive environment. 
  • Experience working within a non-profit, community-based organization preferred. 
  • G driver’s license and driver’s abstract  
  • Current CPIC is required
