Back-to-back wins for men’s soccer

There isn’t much the Nipissing Lakers men’s soccer team could have done better this weekend, as they swept a pair of games.The Lakers started off Friday night on the road with a convincing 3-0 win over their northern rivals, Laurentian.
Darius Tignanelli opened the scoring with a goal at the 16 minute mark.
Two second-half goals three minutes apart by Jean-Michel Paulin and Drew Johnson clinched the win for the Lakers.
Andrew Reddick was perfect in net, in the first of what would be two shutout wins on the weekend.
Sunday afternoon, the Lakers returned home to face Trent and the two teams battled right from the opening kickoff, trading chances as well as physical play.
Ryan Mantle, who was front and centre all game, scored the opening goal just before the half. Jesse Moreau would add a goal in injury time of the second half to put the game away and ensure the Lakers earned a much deserved three points and a win.
Lakers head coach Carlo DeVuono was thrilled with his team’s success this weekend and hopes it continues next weekend, when they hit the road for a pair of games to close out the regular season.
