Widdifield students bring home the cup

Widdifield Secondary School students showed their marketing prowess at the 2012 Nipissing Business Challenge on October 10 and walked away with the coveted Nipissing Business Challenge Cup. Approximately 50 students representing four area high schools were on campus vying for the Nipissing Business Challenge title. Teams from Chippewa, West Ferris, Scollard and Widdifield all took part. In the end, a trio from Widdifield edged out the competition after impressing the judges with their creative ideas.

This year’s case tasked students with developing a promotional plan for the newly formed Nipissing varsity women’s hockey team with the goal of garnering solid attendance for their inaugural season. You may see some of their novel ideas in action in the upcoming season.

The judging panel was comprised of School of Business faculty, students and representatives from marketing and athletics. Each member of the winning team will receive $500 in non-transferable tuition credits to Nipissing University to help them continue their business education locally.
