Hoogkamp, Paulin named OUA All-Stars

Nipissing men’s soccer players Scott Hoogkamp and Jean-Michel Paulin have been named OUA Second Team All-Stars as the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced its 2012 East Division All-Stars and major award winners. Hoogkamp a fourth-year defender from Trenton, Ontario, led a stingy Lakers defence that gave up two or more goals in only two games this season.

In the midfield, rookie and North Bay native Jean-Michel Paulin made an impact. Bringing a scoring touch as well as some speed, he was able to find the net three times during the season.

The Lakers have much to be proud of this past season, managing a nine point improvement in the standings to finish the regular season with a 4-6-4 record while returning to the playoffs for the first time since the 2009-10 season.

In the quarter-final playoff match, the Lakers dropped a heartbreaker to Toronto 1-0 after being edged 4-3 in penalty kicks.
