Gilmore named OCAA WVB Player of the Week

Nipissing Lady Lakers fifth-year middle Megan Gilmore has been named the OCAA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week.
Gilmore, fromCambridge, Ontario, showed great consistency in two significant West region matches, collecting 14 offensive points on 11 kills, two service aces and one stuff block in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-23) win over the visiting Niagara Knights on November 26.

She was able to match her point production with 11 kills, two aces and one block in a 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-16) win over the Fanshawe Falcons the following day. The second-place Lakers (7-1) handed Niagara and Fanshawe just their second loss of the regular season.

Gilmore is leading the Lady Lakers and ranks fifth in the OCAA scoring race, averaging 3.8 points per game. She is enrolled in the Nipissing’s Schulich School of Education and played four seasons for the Laurier Golden Hawks.

“Megan has been a great addition to the team.” said head coach Marc LaRochelle. “She plays her best volleyball in big games and brings a very positive attitude. Her enthusiasm and work ethic is contagious.”
