Advanced Assessment Tools

Learn how to use advanced Blackboard assessment tools including question pools, question analysis and rubrics.

Blackboard Ultra provides a range of assessment and grading tools to support effective teaching and learning. Instructors can create Tests using a variety of automatically graded question types beyond Multiple Choice or True/False.

Further, features such as Question Pools, Test Logs, and Question Analysis help improve test design, security, and assessment quality. When evaluating with Assessments that are not tests, you can ensure consistent and transparent evaluation while making your marking more efficient by creating Rubrics.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify and use a variety of automatically graded question types in Blackboard Ultra.
• Learn other test tools beyond building questions in Blackboard Ultra.
• Learn to use the Rubric tool in Blackboard Ultra.

Facilitator Bio

Paul Courville has worked with Adult Learners and in Professional Development since 2007. He began working with Forestry Professionals teaching new technology and computerized recording techniques for field data collection. He then moved on to work with Student Accessibility Services in 2011, where he supported learners by teaching new assistive technology that helped their learning journey. For the past four years, Paul has been supporting Faculty and Students with the transition to Blackboard Ultra and teaching Faculty about ways to maximize the tools within the LMS.
