The Temagami Medical Centre and Family Health Team (TMCFHT) is committed to building positive, supportive, and inclusive environments that facilitate growth and teamwork. We are a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals providing a collaborative model of primary health care.

We are currently seeking a motivated and organized Registered Nurse to join our team to fill a Permanent Full-Time vacancy at our Temagami Clinic location.

The Registered Nurse is an integral part of the interdisciplinary health care team, delivering nursing care to a variety of patient populations including high-risk groups with chronic disease and/or complex multi-system diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for clients.
  • Conduct health assessments, focused health history taking and triage for episodic or urgent health concerns.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for preventative health, health maintenance and health restoration.
  • Provide health education and health promotion that are responsive to client needs.
  • Collaborate with clients and families as well as the multidisciplinary team to develop client care plans.
  • Coordinate and review lab work, as outlined in Medical Directives.
  • Consult with the physician(s) regarding patient needs, nursing assessments, and recommendations.
  • Lead primary care appointments to provide care such as well women clinics, chronic disease management, hypertension, immunizations, well-baby/well-child visits, episodic care appointments (i.e., strep throat, ear infection, uncomplicated UTI, etc.)
  • Play a leadership role in supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community-based initiatives including annual influenza vaccine clinics.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organization-wide committees.

Qualifications and competencies:

  • Current Registration (in good standing) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the Registered Nurse – General Class.
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing/BScN) or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years clinical nursing experience as Registered Nurse, preferably in a community-based health care (i.e., community health, primary care, or similar setting).
  • Completion of police record/vulnerable sector check upon hire.
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety.
  • Oral proficiency in French at an advanced or superior level considered an asset, but not required.
  • Training and experience in basic, advanced and diabetic foot care would be an asset.

Job Specifications:

  • Permanent, Full-Time.
  • 40 paid hours per week.
