NUFA offering aid to students

Do you know a student who could use some extra money?

The Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) might be able to help thanks to two opportunities: Learning Opportunity Awards and the Textbook Bursary Application.

Application forms and further information can be found at http://www.nufa.ca/forms.html

Learning Opportunity Awards are designed to encourage the continuation of learning experiences and projects outside the classroom.

Criteria for Eligibility:

  • upper year, full-time or part-time, Nipissing University undergraduate or graduate university students are eligible to apply
  • applicants must have at least an overall B average
  • applicants must be involved in (or intend to become involved in) a project
  • learning experience/research that is self-initiated and not related to course work
  • maximum funding is $800 within an academic year

There are two deadlines for applications: February 15, 2014 and April 15, 2014.

Please note: Funding is limited and paid upon confirmation of participation and proof of expenses incurred.

NUFA recognizes that textbooks are a significant expense for students, and that some students may have difficulty purchasing the textbooks they require. To help, NUFU has created theTextbook Bursary Application.Criteria for Eligibility:

Students must articulate their need and the obstacles that have affected their ability to purchase textbooks for the current academic year. The deadline to apply is February 15, 2014.

Please note: Funding is limited and paid only with proof of expenses incurred. Award recipients from the fall term are ineligible to apply in the winter term. The names of eligible students will be entered into a lottery for funding. Maximum award is $100.
