HOURS OF WORK:                          Up to 20 hours per week

RATE OF PAY:                                    $17.60 per hour + vacation pay in accordance with the ESA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Game day student staff assist with ensuring that Lakers Athletics events run smooth and effortlessly for our student-athletes and fans. There are multiple sports and positions to choose from including basketball, soccer, volleyball, and hockey. Basketball, soccer, and volleyball games take place on campus and hockey games take place at North Bay Memorial Gardens. Hours of work vary from 10 to 40 hours per month, September to February.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

This position will assist with the following duties:

  • Perform assigned game day roles, which may include statistician (computer program), scoreboard operator, shot clock operator, scoresheet management, caller, stats board operator, admissions staff, camera operator, DJ support, facility runner, or clean-up crew.
  • Attend and actively participate in pre-season training to learn sport-specific rules, roles, equipment, and operational procedures.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled shifts, with a clear understanding of assigned responsibilities and expectations.
  • Assist with pre-game setup, including equipment preparation, courtside/field setup, signage placement, and workstation organization.
  • Support in-game operations by executing assigned roles accurately, maintaining focus in a fast-paced environment, and contributing to the smooth flow of competition.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates to address any issues that arise during events.
  • Assist with post-game teardown, including equipment storage, facility reset, and cleanup duties.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to student-athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators.
  • Contribute to a positive and engaging game day atmosphere through professionalism, energy, and teamwork.
  • Follow all safety protocols and operational guidelines, reporting any incidents or concerns to Athletics staff.
  • Represent Nipissing Lakers Athletics in a professional and positive manner at all times.
