POSITION TITLE: Varsity Broadcasting – Announcers, Video and TV Operators

HOURS OF WORK: Up to 20 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $17.60 per hour plus vacation pay in accordance with the ESA
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking passionate and talented individuals to fill the roles of Game Day Announcers, Camera Operators, and Videographers for our varsity athletic events. These roles are essential in delivering a captivating experience for our athletes, fans, and the broader community, both in-person and through digital media. DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Provide real-time play-by-play commentary and/or color analysis during varsity games, delivering accurate, engaging, and professional coverage for in-venue and broadcast audiences.
- Support the delivery of live broadcasts and webcasts of varsity events, contributing to a high-quality fan experience both in-person and online.
- Operate video cameras and related production equipment, including setup, framing, and tracking of live game action.
- Assist with livestream production, including switching, graphics integration, audio control, and scoreboard overlays where applicable.
- Capture game footage and highlights for use in post-game recaps, promotional materials, and social media content.
- Assist with basic video editing and formatting of content for digital platforms (e.g., social media, website, and broadcast archives).
- Conduct pre-game preparation, including reviewing rosters, pronunciations, team storylines, and key matchups to enhance broadcast quality.
- Collaborate with Athletics staff, Sports Information, and game day personnel to ensure smooth execution of broadcasts and event coverage.
- Maintain and properly handle all broadcasting and video equipment, reporting any issues or needed repairs to supervisors.
- Support in-venue production elements, such as coordinating with game operations staff, timing cues, and sponsor reads where required.
- Uphold Nipissing Lakers brand standards in all public-facing communications and content, ensuring a professional and consistent presentation.
- Represent Nipissing Athletics in a positive and professional manner when interacting with student-athletes, staff, and fans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a current Nipissing University student
