Job Description:
To educate students in accordance to the guidelines and regulations outlined by the Manitoba Department of Education and School District of Mystery Lake.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
2.1 Teach diligently and faithfully according to the terms of this agreement with the school board and according to the Schools’ Act and the regulations.
2.2 Keep a record of attendance in the manner and such form as required by the school board.
2.3 Maintain order and discipline in the school.
2.4 Notify the principal who shall notify the appropriate local health authority of the area in which the school is situated or where there is no local health authority the school board that he has reason to believe a pupil attending the school has been exposed to or is suffering from a communicable disease as defined in the Public Health and regulations made thereunder.
2.5 Seize or cause to be seized and take possession of any offensive or dangerous weapon that is brought to school by a pupil and hand over any such weapon to the principal.
2.6 Deliver or cause to be delivered or provide the parent or guardian of each pupil taught by him reports of the pupil at the times and in the manner determined by the school board.
2.7 Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Principal (ie: recess and other supervisory duties).
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Manitoba Teacher's Certificate or eligibility for teacher certification in the Province of Manitoba.
- Demonstrated ability to program & teach all academic subjects in middle years French Immersion classroom.
- Fluent bilingualism in French and English, with strong reading, writing and speaking skills in both languages.
- A strong academic background and previous successful French Immersion teaching experience at the middle years level.
- Competency in the instruction & assessment of provincial French Immersion curricula.
- An understanding of the importance of learning French as a second language.
- Knowledge of K-8 Manitoba Curriculum and cross curricular planning.
- Ability to work well with teachers in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in the differentiation of instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- A knowledge and sensitivity to the traditions and aspirations of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.
- A commitment to culturally proficient education.
- Ability to build a program with a northern perspective.
