RATE OF PAY:                                   $17.60/hour plus Vacation Pay as determined by HR Policy

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Student Athletic Therapist — Hockey Coverage will assist with providing immediate care, injury assessment, and treatment support to student-athletes during hockey practices and games. They will assist with preventative care, taping, bracing, and rink-specific preparation under the supervision of certified athletic therapists. This role also supports game-day and practice setup, post-game clean-up, accurate injury documentation, and the general organization and cleanliness of athletic therapy spaces and supplies.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist with providing immediate care, injury assessment, and basic treatment support to student-athletes during hockey practices and games
  • Assist with preventative care, including taping and preparing athletes for practice and competition
  • Assist with rink and practice setup, including bench setup, taping area preparation, water/drink setup, and other equipment or supply needs
  • Support game-day preparation, including taping, bench setup, warm-up pucks, drinks, ice, towels, and penalty box setup
  • Prepare and maintain required game-day areas, including referee dressing room towels and drinks, away team towels, and other assigned rink responsibilities
  • Assist with post-game clean-up by reversing game-day setup, collecting supplies, tidying bench areas, and returning equipment as directed
  • Collaborate with coaches, certified athletic therapists, equipment managers, and other athletic department staff to support athlete care and safe participation
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of athletic therapy spaces, rink supplies, benches, and treatment areas
  • Assist with occasional laundry duties, including towels and other athletic therapy and team -related items
  • Attend home and away games, practices, and varsity program events as needed
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate communication with athletes, coaches, officials, and staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Must be a current Nipissing University student
