Rate of Pay:                                        $17.60/hour plus vacation pay in accordance with the ESA

Job Description:              

Student Assistants play an integral role within University Technology Services, supporting the delivery of high-quality technical and audiovisual services to faculty, staff, students, and external clients. Through practical, hands-on training, Student Assistants provide front-line support across multiple service channels. This role contributes directly to maintaining efficient operations and ensuring a consistent, customer-focused service experience.

Duties Include: 

  • Set up and support classroom AV and video conferencing systems for in-person and hybrid instruction.
  • Deliver, install, and retrieve mobile equipment across campus.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of AV and computer lab equipment.
  • Monitor labs and ensure systems are operational; report issues as needed.
  • Provide front-line technical support.
  • Troubleshoot basic technical issues with a focus on customer service.
  • Work flexible shifts, including evenings and occasional weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a current Nipissing University student
  • Must apply and be approved for the NUWORK Program (see link below to apply for NUWORK Program)
  • Demonstrated strong customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Previous experience in a customer service-oriented environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of standard computer software and hardware.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual equipment is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive in completing assigned tasks
