Rate of Pay:                                     $17.60/hour plus vacation pay in accordance with the ESA

Job Description:              

The Sports Information Assistant will assist the Sports Information & Gameday Coordinator with operations and procedures relating to all Lakers varsity home and away games. This position helps support game day operations, sports information collection and distribution, and social media strategy/content creation. This position represents Nipissing’s Athletic Department to internal and external stakeholders.

Duties Include:

Gameday Operations

  • Assist with setup and takedown of pregame and in-game events, including all half-time activations, senior nights, promotional games, and more
  • Help manage and troubleshoot game live streams ensuring game broadcast is delivered in a professional and timely manner
  • Help manage camera and microphones as needed during games by staff
  • Monitor ticket table at gym entrance and provide support where necessary
  • Manage the distribution of promotional items to patrons attending Lakers home games
  • Collect and distribute official game scoresheets from officials after games have ended
  • Help lead and direct people of importance during special in-game events

Social Media and Content Creation

  • Assist Sports Information & Gameday Coordinator with recording and photographing Lakers home games for use on Athletic Department social media channels
  • Editing and creating shortform video for use across social channels and website
  • Help brainstorm and research social media posts ensuring Lakers social media stays relevant to current industry trends
  • Work with representatives from other OUA and USports schools to fulfill requests as needed for social content
  • Write and collect notes during games for use in compilation of recap articles for Lakers website and media

Communications

  • Relay pertinent information to various media contacts in a timely fashion
  • Assist travelling coaches and staff with any requests or questions on game day
  • Communicate game score sheets to OUA or USports league offices via email post-game.
  • Work with league officials to fulfill media requests relating to varsity athletes
