Job Description
Library Summer Programs Coordinator – Contract – 9 weeks
Position Responsibilities
In Collaboration with the CEO, the summer programs coordinator will:
- Plan and organize engaging activities and programs for children.
- Facilitate educational and recreational events that promote learning.
- Collaborate with library staff to develop new initiatives for children.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for young participants.
- Promote library services and activities within the community.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of activity spaces.
- Support parents and guardians in encouraging children's participation.
- Create displays and promotional material.
- Other basic library procedures as assigned.
Eligibility
To be eligible, youth must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
This position is made possible with Federal funding through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program.

- Experience working with children or in educational settings.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to create fun, educational, and inclusive activities.
- Friendly, patient, and energetic personality.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on community needs.
- Good working knowledge of Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
- Comfortable being on camera or shooting video
- Self-starting with good leadership skills
