POSITION TITLE:                              Athletics NUSAC (Intramurals) Student Staff

HOURS OF WORK:                         Up to 20 hours per week

RATE OF PAY:                                   $17.60/hour plus vacation pay in accordance with the ESA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Athletics Department, the Athletics NUSAC Student Staff supports the planning, delivery, and administration of intramural sport programming at Nipissing University. This role plays a key part in fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging recreational sport environment that enhances student wellbeing, community connection, and campus life.

The successful candidate will assist with league operations, officiating, scheduling, communication, and program development, while serving as a welcoming and knowledgeable point of contact for participants.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Intramural Program Delivery

  • Convene, oversee, and officiate a variety of intramural sport activities and leagues.
  • Ensure games are conducted in a safe, fair, and respectful manner, in accordance with intramural rules and university policies.
  • Support day‑to‑day operations of leagues, tournaments, and special events.

Scheduling & League Administration

  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of intramural schedules, including regular season and playoff formats.
  • Administer leagues using IMLeagues, including team registration, schedules, standings, score entry, and participant communication.
  • Track participation data and assist with reporting and program summaries.

Communication & Customer Service

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for intramural participants, responding to inquiries related to schedules, rules, registrations, and facilities.
  • Communicate updates, schedule changes, and important information clearly and professionally via IMLeagues and other approved platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sports Information & Game Day Coordinator to support the promotion of intramural programming.
  • Provide on‑site customer service support to ensure a positive participant experience.

Program Set‑Up & Operations

  • Assist with facility and equipment set‑up and takedown for intramural activities.
  • Ensure playing spaces are safe, organized, and welcoming prior to and following programming.
  • Report facility, equipment, or safety concerns to Athletics staff as required.

Student Experience & Inclusion

  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and inviting environment for all participants, regardless of skill level, identity, or background.
  • Model professionalism, sportsmanship, and respect at all times.
  • Support initiatives that promote participation, wellbeing, and community connection through recreation.

Feedback & Program Development

  • Gather informal and formal feedback from participants to help improve intramural programming.
  • Assist with identifying gaps in programming and introducing new sport and recreation opportunities that reflect student interest and campus demographics.
  • Support pilot programs, theme nights, or new league offerings as directed.

Administrative Support

  • Assist with record‑keeping, basic reporting, and end‑of‑term summaries.
  • Support Athletics staff with promotional efforts, participant engagement initiatives, and special events as assigned.
  • Complete required training and adhere to all Athletics and University policies and procedures.
