10 Month Limited Term Appointment in the School of Nursing
The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies at Nipissing University invites applications for a 10-month Limited Term Appointment to fill an existing vacancy. This position is at the Lecturer or Assistant Professor rank and will start August 1, 2026. This position is in North Bay, Ontario and the successful candidate will be required to work on campus and teach in-person.
The School of Nursing faculty members at Nipissing University are committed to excellence in teaching and research. They earn funding from tri-council agencies and other sources, publish in top nursing journals, and teach in a state-of-the-art simulation centre. The George and Helen Vari Simulation Centre is an interdisciplinary space used to enhance students’ understanding of nursing skills and theoretical development. The nursing programs provide solid preparation for entry to practice graduates and for those who want to further their studies in graduate-level programs such as Master and Nurse Practitioner programs. The ideal candidate will have:
- A completed master's degree in nursing or a closely related field is required. A PhD in nursing is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of nursing practice is required.
- Registration as a registered nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), without restrictions to practice, is required.
- A record of scholarly achievement, strong interpersonal and team-building skills, and the ability to lead in a collegial, student-centred environment.
- Demonstrated excellence, or clear promise of excellence, in undergraduate teaching.
The candidate will be responsible for delivering six courses in the program. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach a range of courses which could include:
- NURS 1037 – Health Assessment (Fall 2026) – Two sections
- NURS 1707 – Nursing Practice Experience 1 (Winter 2027) – Two sections
- NURS 2036 – Development of Nursing Knowledge (Fall 2026) – One section
- NURS 2517 – Therapeutic Relationships (Winter 2027) – One section

The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Full-time Academic Staff Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement. The salary for a 10-month Lecturer position will be prorated from an annual range of $67,576 to $101,800 CAD. The salary for a 10-month Assistant Professor position will be prorated from an annual range of $87,720 to $134,200 CAD.
