NU Grad publishes book

Congratulations to Nipissing University graduate, Rod Dubey (BA ’78, BEd ’79), who has published a new book…beautiful in my worn clothes…The Transgressions of Love (Charivari Press). The book is an essay on the transgressive nature of love. Love is described as a river that freely flows without regard to prohibitions based on race, gender, class or religion. It transgresses the boundaries set by church, state and family which seek to control it and is thus, inherently subversive.

…beautiful in my worn clothes…The Transgressions of Love is a timely book, written in a period of war and increasing simulation. It draws its examples from current events and popular culture, history, art, poetry, philosophy, fiction, music, and film.

Dubey is a Toronto writer who has published widely on political and cultural theory. In addition, he has participated in a number of film, art and music projects, been a teacher and principal in Canada’s sub-arctic, worked in NGOs as an advocate and director, been on the editorial board of Between The Lines Press and acted in a number of capacities with the Development Education Centre.
