Homecoming weekend coming up

Break out the Blue and Green and reawaken your inner Laker maniac!It’s almost time for Nipissing’s annual Homecoming weekend, October 3 – 4!Homecoming is a weekend like no other, with students, staff, faculty, friends and alumni all celebrating their Nipissing spirit together.
This year’s events kick off on Friday, October 3, with our Alumni Awards reception taking place in the Harris Learning Library at 7 p.m. The evening segues nicely into a Homecoming themed pub night at the Wall, beginning at 10 p.m.
A full day of events starts Saturday at noon with Pints & Pancakes at the Lakers soccer field, featuring back-to-back men’s and women's varsity soccer action as the Lakers take on the RMC Paladins.
At 1 p.m., you can register for the Nearly Naked Mile, hosted by Nipissing University Student Alumni (NUSA), with donations going to Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre; the run starts at 2 p.m.
In the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletic Centre, you can watch the Lakers’ men’s volleyball team trade aces, kills and blocks with an invitational team of varsity alums at 1 p.m.
At 4 p.m. be sure to check out the brand new Lakers men’s basketball team taking on the Laurier Golden Hawks in exhibition roundball action in the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletic Centre.
Of course, the Homecoming Tailgate party is simply not to be missed. It gets rolling at 4:30 p.m. at Memorial Gardens and is followed by the Lakers men’s hockey team taking on the UOIT Ridgebacks at 7 p.m.
Registration is now open, so what are you waiting for?!
Just $15 for students, $20 for alumni and friends of Nipissing, the registration package includes everything you just read about (yes, it includes your ticket to the hockey game), plus you’ll get a concession voucher for your choice of pizza, hotdog or french fries and a bottled pop from the Memorial Gardens concession.
