Nipissing Students Receive $2 Million in Awards

North Bay, ON, March 16, 2012 - Nipissing University paid tribute to its students and donors yesterday during the annual student awards reception. This academic year, Nipissing will provide almost $2 million to students in the form of academic-based and needs-based scholarships. The university will distribute about 1,500 separate academic-based and needs-based scholarships, bursaries and awards this year to assist with rising costs of living, increased financial pressures, and fewer opportunities for summer employment. These awards make a significant contribution to a student’s university education. "On behalf of the students, I would like to thank all of the donors for their generosity," said business student Kimberly Tait, recipient of the William J. Hotten Award. "These awards help us to concentrate on our studies and they can have a meaningful impact on one's life. It is rewarding to see that the donors feel strongly enough about Nipissing, its mission and its students to give to the student awards program and help make university more accessible."
