Homecoming is coming

Break out the Blue and Green and get ready to discover your inner Laker maniac during Nipissing’s annual Homecoming weekend, October 19 –20!
Homecoming is a weekend like no other, with students, staff, faculty, friends and alumni all celebrating their Nipissing spirit together.

This year’s events kick off on Friday, October 19, with a pancake breakfast in Nipissing’s Foyer at 8 a.m. Then it’s off to the always popular Tailgate Party and Beer Garden at Memorial Gardens, leading up to the Lakers hockey team hitting the ice against the RMC Paladins at 7 p.m.

Registration is currently open for the Tailgate Party; $10 for students, $15 for alumni, and that cost includes your ticket to the hockey game.

Saturday starts bright and early at 11 a.m. with the president’s Homecoming Barbecue and Carnival Games at the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre.  At noon, you can watch the Lakers women’s soccer team battle Cambrian College.  At 1:30 p.m. the university will officially open the expansion of the Surtees Centre and at 2 p.m. you can watch the Lakers’ men’s volleyball team trade aces, kills and blocks with the Canadian Masters Team.  All of these events are free-of-charge.

Can’t get enough hockey?  Then, check out the Nipissing Alumni and Friends hockey game at Memorial Gardens from 3 – 4:30 p.m.

Saturday night marks the jewel in the Homecoming crown with the Alumni Awards and reception in the Harris Learning Library from 7 – 9 p.m.  The cost to attend is $10 and registration is required.

Homecoming wraps up that night with the Blue and Green party at the Wall.  Tickets are available from the Wall.
