Nipissing Teaching Hub wins Catalyst Award

North Bay, ON – The Nipissing University Teaching Hub has been recognized with a Catalyst Award in the Teaching & Learning Category for its innovative use of Blackboard Learn to advance learning.

Founded in 2005, the Catalyst Awards recognize and honour innovation and excellence within Anthology's global community, where millions of educators and learners work every day to redefine that is possible when leveraging technology. Winners are recognized across nine categories and selected by a cross-functional team of Anthology experts and represent the very best in their field.

The Catalyst Award for Teaching and Learning is awarded to those that have redefined what is possible in the classroom by adopting new delivery and pedagogical models and tools that positively influenced the educational experience, increased flexibility, furthers learner and instructor efficiency, and fostered academic excellence, with measurable results.

“The Teaching Hub team offers programming that supports teachers and learners,” said Dr. Patrick Maher, Dean of Teaching and Full Professor of Physical and Health Education at Nipissing University. “We are incredibly grateful to be recognized by Anthology for our efforts to advance learning through its platform.”

Nipissing University’s Teaching Hub is an emerging centre for teaching and learning that is committed to excellence, leadership, and innovation in teaching and learning practice and scholarship and offers a wide range of supports and services to foster educational growth and teaching excellence.

Anthology’s Blackboard Learn is Nipissing’s institutional Learning Management Software that supports instructors and faculty members and provides a safe and familiar environment through which they can learn and explore different tools and forms of assessment to best suit their individual instructor needs.

"We’re pleased to honour this year's Catalyst Award winners for their commitment to improving the educational experience for all learners through EdTech and sharing these insights with the broader community," said Jim Milton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Anthology. "We’re proud to partner with institutions who are innovating to advance student success.”

Nipissing’s Teaching Hub team will also be announced alongside other Catalyst Award winners during Anthology Together, Anthology’s annual user conference to be held July 17-19 in Nashville, Tennessee.
