10-Month Limited Term Appointment in Biology
The Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Geography in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University invites applications for a 10-month Limited Term Appointment to fill an existing vacancy. This position is at the Assistant Professor rank and will start August 1, 2026. This position is located in North Bay, Ontario and the successful candidate will be required to work on campus.
The Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Geography at Nipissing University is a dynamic academic unit committed to excellence in teaching and research. We offer comprehensive undergraduate (B.Sc.) programs in Biology and Environmental Biology and Technology, as well as minors/certificates in chemistry, environmental science, forest resources and neuroscience. We place a strong emphasis on high impact student experiences in in lectures, labs, and individualized study courses (e.g. thesis).

The ideal candidate will have:
- A completed PhD in Biology or a closely related discipline is preferred; candidates who are near completion of their degree (ABD) will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in undergraduate teaching.
- Demonstrated research success or research potential in Biology would be considered an asset.
- Expertise in molecular neurobiology would be considered an asset.
The candidate will be responsible for delivering six courses in the program. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach a range of courses which could include:
- BIOL 2127 - Molecular & Cell Biology
- BIOL 2837 - Vertebrate Zoology
- BIOL 3117 - Biostatistics
- BIOL 3267 - Animal Physiology
- BIOL 3566 - Evolution
- BIOL 3717 - Animal Behaviour
- BIOL 4507 - Special Topics in Molecular & Cell Biology
- BIOL 4557 - Developmental & Behavioural Genetics
- PSYC 2506 - Health Psychology

The annual salary will correspond with qualifications and experience and will follow the Nipissing University Faculty Association (NUFA) Full-time Academic Staff Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement. The annual salary for this 10-month Assistant Professor position will be prorated from the full-time salary range of $87,720 to $134,200 CAD.
