Start Date: Mid-September, 2026 

Status: Full-time, contract (16 weeks, 37.5 hours per week) with possibility of extension  

Rate of Pay: $21.40/hour

Job Summary:    

The Grants and Partnerships Junior Coordinator will support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of grant and partnership initiatives related to invasive species prevention and management. The candidate will assist with grant design, promotion, application and report review, applicant communications, data collection and analysis, and relationship-building with community partners and municipalities. They will also help create accessible communications materials, outreach campaigns, invasive species profiles, and literature reviews to support public awareness and program impact. 

Key duties include:   

  • Support grant design, promotion, application review process, including applying knowledge and understanding of invasion biology to environmental issues and management strategies

    • Coordinate grant proposal review and notifications of final decisions, including communications to applicants about the scientific rationale behind funding decisions 
     
    • Support report review and assessment 
     
    • Provide support and develop working relationships with groups 
     
    • Support team members on similar community support work with municipalities related to invasive species, their impacts, and environmental management of these species 
     
    • Collects and analyze data related to key performance indicators from grant recipients to improve the program and to better understand the grants’ impact. 
     
    • Write related content for reports, websites, newsletters, and other communications products 
     
    • Develop and deliver novel communications campaigns for public outreach on a variety of topics 
     
    • Produce invasive species profiles and literature reviews 

 

Minimum Qualifications:    

  • The candidate must be enrolled in a post-secondary academic study in a program directly related to the position. The study program must be in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) or Business fields. “Business fields” typically refer to areas related to business studies, management, entrepreneurship, and other commercial sectors. This can include disciplines such as finance, marketing, human resources, business administration, and operations management, particularly as they intersect with STEAM initiatives.  
     

Minimum Competencies:    

  • Strong writing skills to synthesize complex information in a way that is interesting and accessible for non-technical audiences   
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office software and Adobe software is considered an asset   
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with Microsoft Excel 
  • Knowledge of invasive species issues    
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills   
  • Demonstrated high standard of excellence with their work processes and outcomes, speak and write clearly and accurately, be helpful and teamwork-oriented, manage time well, and be receptive to feedback

Other requirements:   

  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment  
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations  
  • The candidate will need to comply with all ISC policies, including security clearance
