Job Description:
Through counseling, coordinating and collaborating, the counselor delivers individual services to specific students assist teachers in the development and delivery of the affective programming. The appropriate emphasis is reflected by the needs of the school and its students
Duties and Responsibilities:
To assist administration, school personnel and parents to meet the affective needs of students.
Operations:
- To work directly with students who are experiencing problems, using individual or group strategies. This counseling is not in the role of a disciplinarian but in the role of a positive change agent.
- To facilitate referrals to carious district and/or community social agencies and recourses.
- Participate in student support plans.
- To be responsible for appropriate documentation of referrals.
- Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time from principal.
Placement and Programming:
Develop and provide on going presentations for staff, students, parents on various health topics.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education Degree with a Post Baccalaureate in Counselling or a Masters in Counselling and/or Bachelor of Social Work.
- A Manitoba Teacher's Certificate or eligibility for teacher certification in the Province of Manitoba.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years demonstrated counselling experience.
- The ability to plan and deliver a comprehensive counselling program that promotes the educational, academic,
- career, personal and social development of all students within the school setting.
- Promote student success through leadership, advocacy and collaborative and consultative environment.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to build program with a northern perspective.
- A commitment to culturally proficient education.
- A knowledge and sensitivity to the traditions of students with diverse abilities and backgrounds.

current collective agreement.
Moving Allowance may be available as per Administrative Procedure 2.A.040 available on the School District of
Mystery Lake website.
