North Bay, ON, November 25, 2009

The Nipissing Lakers hockey team is inviting all Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to this Friday’s game versus the McGill Redmen to promote and raise funds for prostate cancer awareness as part of Movember.

The support is timely, given the team is also putting the finishing touches on their moustaches, grown as part of Movember, a global, month long campaign of moustache growing in support of prostate cancer awareness.

To help raise funds for prostate cancer awareness, the Lakers will be holding a moustache-judging contest.  A booth will be set up at Memorial Gardens featuring photographs of the Lakers players showing off their Movember stache.  For a $1 donation, fans can vote for the best and worst moustache.  Lakers players not in the game lineup will be manning the booth.

As well, for those fans not able to grow a moustache, the Lakers will be offering moustache-themed face painting for $1 donation.

All proceeds from these events will go to prostate cancer awareness.

Game time is 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens.  Tickets are available at the Memorial Gardens box office.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian men. It will afflict one in six men and is a greater threat for those with a family history of the disease.  The Prostate Cancer Foundation of Canada estimates that about 25,500 men will be diagnosed this year, not including cases that go undiagnosed due to men's unwillingness to go for annual check-ups.
