As the world develops at a rapidly increasing pace, changes in the human and physical environment can be seen all around us; hydroelectric dams, changing weather patterns, melting glaciers, and urban development are just a few examples. Geography students will be able to quickly apply their new skills and knowledge to the constantly changing world around them.
The Geography programs at Nipissing are divided in to three areas; Human, Physical and Environmental Geography. Human Geography courses will explore the spatial aspects of human development. Physical Geography courses will explain physical systems, their elements and their hazards, such as earthquakes, mudslides and glaciation. Environmental Geography courses examine the ecological principles underlying environmental problems such as climate change, pollution and wetland degradation. As a Geography student you will have an opportunity to take courses from all of these areas to satisfy your academic and career goals.
