Our scenic location, world-renowned professors, and North Bay’s strong arts community will impress aspiring artists. Nipissing University sits on the Laurentian escarpment, surrounded by trails, ponds and lakes and is a great source of inspiration for our students.
Nipissing Fine Arts professors have a hands-on teaching approach designed to bring out the best in every student. Students will not be asked to conform to the artistic style of the professor, but experiment and create their own artistic style. Studio classes are capped at 20, in order to allow the professor enough time to circulate and talk with each student. Students often comment on the amount of freedom they have for creating pieces that have value to them.
In 2004 TVO ranked North Bay third as a community that attracts and supports the arts year round. Landscape artists will be able to take advantage of Nipissing’s natural setting over all four seasons. The university works closely with the White Water Gallery and Kennedy Gallery in North Bay. This allows students to gain insight in to the public and commercial gallery system; including artist exhibitions and artist run spaces.
If you are interested in a degree in Fine Arts as well as another discipline, you may want to consider a combined major that can apply to many other areas of study.
