welcome to classical studies

The Classical Studies degree program provides an excellent education in culture, history and language for people who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree, attending law school or considering a degree in teaching.

The Classical Studies program focuses on classical Greek and Roman culture and civilization. Students take classes highlighting ancient literature, Latin language, religion, military traditions, mythology, philosophy, art and architecture, social and political thought and historians.

The cultural and linguistic legacy of the ancient Romans and Greeks is emphasized while students learn the fundamentals of the Latin language. A cross-listed anthropology course provides students with an opportunity to engage in basic archaeological research through integrated laboratory sessions, field trips and excavations.
