Scholarships
Provided to support a student's education; awarded on the basis of academic achievement.
Bursaries
Non-repayable financial aid given to students, on the basis of financial need, to assist with the cost of education.
Awards
Awarded to students on a mix of criteria, including extracurricular involvement, academic performance, leadership skills, volunteer work, or other specified experiences.

You may still qualify for some scholarships, bursaries, or awards, as different opportunities have different criteria. Apply anyway to see what you might be eligible for.
Nipissing University assumes liability for the payment of scholarships, bursaries and other awards only to the extent that expected gifts from donors or returns from particular investments of endowed funds are realized. The University reserves the right to make whatever changes circumstances may require, including the amendment of monetary value, selection criteria and the cancellation of particular awards. Information on the current status of any of these may be obtained by contacting the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office or by visiting the Nipissing University website at www.nipissingu.ca/studentfinancialservices.
Students who feel that their individual circumstances are not being fairly considered when determining eligibility for the aforementioned scholarships, bursaries and awards have the right to submit a written appeal explaining their circumstances to the Undergraduate Services and Awards Committee.

Catherine L. Peters Indigenous Student Award (Post-Graduate Studies)
Award Value $2,500.00Presented to a Nipissing student who self-identifies as Indigenous and is graduating from an undergraduate degree program. The recipient must intend on pursuing a post-graduate degree, including graduate studies programs at the Masters level, in the area of education, law, medicine or social work. The recipient must demonstrate financial need. Selected recipient is required to submit proof of acceptance to a post-graduate degree program outlined in the criteria. Application required.

CCUPEKA Student Leadership Award
Award Value VariablePresented annually by the Canadian Council of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators to a deserving full time BPHE graduate who demonstrates exceptional professionalism and dedication to the field, and one who has made a significant contribution to the BPHE program, the campus, or the greater community. Each student nominated demonstrated leadership, commitment and an ability to motivate and influence others. Nominated students must meet the minimum GPA requirements as determined by the Director of the BPHE program. The recipient receives a framed certificate and will have his/her name engraved on a plaque displayed in the Centre for Physical and Health Education.

CFUW North Bay Dr. Diana Walton Scholarship
Award Value $1,500.00Awarded to a North Bay and Area female student who demonstrates academic proficiency who is continuing full time studies in a program within the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University. The recipient exhibits excellent leadership skills, with preference going to a student who also demonstrates a strong work ethic, compassion, perseverance, and financial need. A reference letter supporting leadership skills must be submitted to finaid@nipissingu.ca by November 1st.

CFUWNB Indigenous Teacher Education Award
Award Value $500.00A one-time scholarship to a female student enrolled in the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP) at Nipissing University who demonstrates kindness, compassion, and ethics of care during their on- campus studies. Selection is made by ITEP Faculty in collaboration with the Financial Services and Awards Office.

Chancellor's Award
Award Value $10,000.00Awarded to two students entering full-time study in the Faculty of Arts and Science or the Faculty of Education and Professional Studies. Applicants must have a minimum 85% average and show evidence of personal leadership activities: e.g. excellence in fine arts, writing, debating; excellence in science extracurricular activities beyond local school class requirements; and/or significant citizenship contributions to community or family. Recipients must also demonstrate financial need and be residents of Ontario as defined by OSAP. Each recipient receives $10,000 during their first year, and the scholarship is renewable for up to three additional years at $3,000 per year based on the maintenance of a minimum 85% average on their best 24 credits. Recipients of this award may not also hold a President's, Schulich, FIRST Robotics, Carl Sanders scholarship or NU Entrance Award.
