Members of the community are invited to join in Nipissing University’s Homecoming celebrations taking place from Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24. Homecoming weekend is a long-standing tradition that celebrates Nipissing University and the many achievements of its alumni as they are welcomed back to their alma mater.

This summer, Dr. Richard Wenghofer, Associate Professor of Ancient Studies at Nipissing University and Gabrielle Leboeuf, a Nipissing student studying Ancient Studies, had the unique opportunity to participate in an archeological field school at Emporion Pistiros, an ancient Greek trading settlement in the heart of Thrace (modern Bulgaria) run by Balkan Heritage Field School.

In light of the Israel-Hamas conflict and resulting violence that escalated over the weekend, Nipissing University offers its full support to students, staff, and faculty who may be affected by these events. 

Professor of Social Work, Dr. Mary Pat Sullivan was recently interviewed by Markus Schwabe of CBC Radio's Morning North about her impactful work leading Rare Dementia Support Canada, a national support service for those affected by rare and young onset dementia. 

For Dr. Patrick Maher, his entire career has focused on understanding how people use outdoor environments, and how they value or draw meaning from them. A professor of Physical and Health Education at Nipissing University, he was recently named one of the first recipients to receive the Grímsson Fellowship that will take him to Iceland in 2025.

Members of the community are invited to get moving in support of the Lakers Nordic Ski Team by taking part in the Conquer the Escarpment Shelby Dickey Memorial Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, November 4 at 12 p.m. hosted by Nipissing University.

Nipissing University, in partnership with Brunel University London, the RTOERO Foundation and Rare Dementia Support (RDS) Canada, invites community members to explore the impact of social connections at Sip and Sonder: Connections with Self, Family, Community and the Natural Environment anytime on Wednesday, November 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Bay Museum.

Nipissing University will welcome hundreds of prospective students and their supporters to campus (100 College Drive, North Bay, Ontario) on Saturday, November 4 for its annual Fall Open House, taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Until January 31, 2022, faculty members, alumni, students and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in one of three categories: Academic, Campus or Community.

The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation has granted $400,000 to Nipissing University to support the establishment and growth of a new a support service for Canadians living with rare and young onset dementia called Rare Dementia Support Canada (RDS Canada).
