Tonight at 6 p.m., Nipissing University and Canadore College will welcome former Team Canada hockey goalie, Kendra Fisher, to campus for an inspiring talk about her personal mental health journey and the importance of connection. The event, part of Fisher’s North American post-secondary speaking tour, will take place in the Nipissing Theatre (F213, 100 College Drive, North Bay) and is open to the public.

This Saturday, the Nipissing University Black Association for Student Expression (NUBASE) in partnership with Lakers Basketball will host the 2nd Annual With1VoiceNight: Shoot for Change Game at the R.J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre against 705 rivals, the Laurentian Voyageurs. Created by NUBASE Co-Founder and President, Taijon Eccleston-Graham, Shoot for Change raises funds for BIPOC student bursaries at Nipissing University and offers student-athletes a platform to advocate for marginalized communities. 

Meet Clémence (Clem) Martineau, an exchange student from France currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration. During her time at Nipissing, Clem was actively involved within the Nipissing community, volunteering her free time to the assist at the Athletics Centre and with events at NUSU.

The Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) has announced that Dr. Sandra Goldsworthy, professor in Nipissing University’s School of Nursing, is one of the recipients of the Pat Griffin Research Grants and $15,000 in funding. The Pat Griffin Research Grant supports research with a priority of “Nursing Education Outcomes” from the National Research Priorities for Nursing.

March is Research Month at Nipissing University, a time to celebrate the impact of undergraduate, graduate, and faculty research locally, nationally, and internationally. Nipissing invites the community to “Discover Research” through a series of events throughout the month including the popular NU360 Speaker Night, the Undergraduate Research Conference, and Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition.

The NU360 Speaker Night will soon open Research Month on Thursday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) Student Centre. This long-standing tradition samples the diverse research happening at Nipissing through a series of six-minute talks, all linked to the theme of “Research and Community”.

Nipissing University invites community members to enjoy an afternoon of activities and hockey at the 10th Annual Paul Nelson Memorial Hockey Game on Saturday, March 4, at Memorial Gardens in support of the Paul Nelson Memorial Scholarship. Admission is free however, monetary donations are welcome.

Yesterday, 25 student leaders at Nipissing University were recognized and celebrated for their outstanding contributions to their academic program, to the campus, or to the greater community at the annual Dave Marshall Leadership Awards ceremony held in the Nipissing Theatre.
