Nipissing University seeking input into new strategic plan
North Bay, ON – Nipissing University is embarking on a new strategic planning process that will lay the foundation for the future of the institution over the next five years and beyond. To guide the development of the new strategic plan, Nipissing is seeking input from its partners through various forms of engagement. As one opportunity to provide input, members of the community are invited to share their thoughts and ideas through an online survey: https://strategicplanning.nipissingu.ca/survey.
“As we celebrate our 30th year as an independent degree-granting institution, it is important to reflect on how we have served our community over the past 124 years and, through broad engagement, to plot the course for our future,” said Nipissing University President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Kevin Wamsley. “Working directly with our internal and external communities and diverse partners, we will forge a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future for our university and the next generation of students. In many respects, the strategic planning process is just as important as the plan itself.”
The Strategic Planning Steering Committee is honoured to be working alongside the Nipissing University Indigenous Council on Education (NUICE). NUICE is an advisory body to and resource for Nipissing University and is comprised of representatives from various regional Indigenous communities.
Maurice Switzer, Chair of NUICE said, "Our council represents the interests of the Indigenous communities who entrust Nipissing University with providing their students a culturally-appropriate learning environment. Involving NUICE in the strategic planning process demonstrates the university's commitment to the type of respectful relationship envisioned by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission."
The University officially launched its strategic planning process to students, faculty and staff in November. The engagement process will continue through March, with a draft plan to be presented to Nipissing’s Board of Governors and Academic Senate for feedback and approval in the spring.
