A new online learning resource entitled “An Interactive Learning Guide for Understanding People Living with Rare Dementia”, has been launched by Rare Dementia Support (RDS) Canada and the Learning Library, bringing the insights, stories, and experiences shared during the Living Stories: A Moment with Rare Dementia event to a wider audience.
In March 2026, the Living Stories “Living Library” event was hosted at Nipissing University and brought together people living with rare and young onset dementias, family members, researchers, students, and community members to share their experiences, knowledge, and perspectives. The Living Library was held as part of the Peoples, Spaces, Places study, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), which informs the development and expansion of support for people affected by rare dementias.
The newly released resource draws on content from the event, including personal stories, research, artwork, and discussions, and provides an opportunity for students, professionals, families, and community members to continue learning about rare dementia and the lived experiences of those affected by it.
By transforming content from the Living Library event into an accessible online resource, RDS Canada and Nipissing University are helping ensure that the stories and knowledge shared during Living Stories continue to inform, educate, and challenge assumptions about dementia.
