Provided to support a student's education; awarded on the basis of academic achievement.

Non-repayable financial aid given to students, on the basis of financial need, to assist with the cost of education.

Awarded to students on a mix of criteria, including extracurricular involvement, academic performance, leadership skills, volunteer work, or other specified experiences.

You may still qualify for some scholarships, bursaries, or awards, as different opportunities have different criteria. Apply anyway to see what you might be eligible for.

Nipissing University assumes liability for the payment of scholarships, bursaries and other awards only to the extent that expected gifts from donors or returns from particular investments of endowed funds are realized. The University reserves the right to make whatever changes circumstances may require, including the amendment of monetary value, selection criteria and the cancellation of particular awards. Information on the current status of any of these may be obtained by contacting the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office or by visiting the Nipissing University website at www.nipissingu.ca/studentfinancialservices. 

Students who feel that their individual circumstances are not being fairly considered when determining eligibility for the aforementioned scholarships, bursaries and awards have the right to submit a written appeal explaining their circumstances to the Undergraduate Services and Awards Committee.​

  • Metis Nation Of Ontario Award

    Award Value $2,725.00

    Established by the Metis Nation of Ontario to encourage and support Metis students in undergraduate programs at Nipissing University, the Metis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Metis Student Bursary Program provides bursaries to registered students who are verified Metis citizens of the Metis Nation of Ontario. Applicants may be studying in any discipline of any year and must be meeting all academic program requirements, along with demonstrated financial need. Selected awardees are considered only "conditional" until such time as their citizenship status can be confirmed. These awardees will be provided with a direct link to consent and complete the MNO verification process (This will involve providing key demographic information and consent to have citizenship status checked by the MNO’s 3rd party Registry). 

    Applicants will be required to complete the MNO Metis Student Bursary Application and consent to an MNO citizenship verification check to confirm eligibility for these awards. If you have any questions, please direct all inquiries to: PSEsupport@metisnation.org

  • Michael Carter Memorial Award

    Award Value $1,350.00

    Presented to a full-time or part-time student who demonstrates financial need. The recipient also be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

  • Mino-Bimaaziwan Cultural Development Bursary

    Award Value $500.00

    Established to support Nipissing Indigenous students who wish to revitalize their cultural practices. Funding can be used to support an Elder honourarium, travel costs, supplies, food, or other expenses, as defined by the students. Applications are reviewed by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and must include an engagement plan and anticipated expenses. Recipients are selected by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives.

  • Muriel (McCurdy) Toye Memorial Award

    Award Value $2,025.00

    Presented to a third or fourth year student in the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) program on the basis of academic merit and financial need. The recipient must also be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

  • Murray Green Award

    Award Value $750.00

    Established upon the retirement of Murray Green in honour of his dedication and commitment to Nipissing University during his 16 years of service. It is presented annually to a full-time or part-time student who: 1) actively volunteers in community projects and/or 2) is involved in varsity or intramural athletics at Nipissing University and 3) maintains a solid academic record (minimum 75%). Preference is given to students who promote community volunteerism. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.

  • NECO Community Futures Development Corporation Entrepreneurship Award

    Award Value $250.00

    Presented to the Bachelor of Business Administration student best demonstrating a combination of academic and creative excellence in the Small Business course OR the Intro to Entrepeneurship ADMN 2156 as determined by the Department.

  • Nipissing First Nation Entrance Scholarship

    Award Value $800.00

    Presented to three Indigenous students from the Nipissing First Nation with the highest entrance average. Recipients must be entering their first year of study in an undergraduate degree program, or the Indigenous Foundations Program, at Nipissing University. College transfer students with less than 18 credits will also be considered.

    Presented to a full-time student in the second, third or fourth year of the Bachelor of Business Administration program who has excelled in his /her studies (minimum 70%). The recipient must also demonstrate financial need and be a resident of Ontario as defined by OSAP.
