The ongoing acts of violence against women in Iran are deeply concerning and distressing to many members of our university community, especially for NU students, staff, and faculty members from Iran or those with close ties to the country.

On Sunday, September 25, the Nipissing University Black Association for Student Expression (NUBASE) announced that the university’s first-ever bursary for BIPOC students would be named after Warren Lindsay, Director of Services at the Nipissing University Student Union and an active member of NUBASE.

Nipissing University’s Extended Learning department invites members of the community to take part in a Ukrainian doll-making workshop at the NUSU Student Centre (221 College Drive, North Bay), on Thursday, October 27 at 6 p.m. in support of two families who recently relocated to North Bay from Ukraine. Dr. Haibin Zhu, Professor of Computer Science at Nipissing University, has been elected Vice-President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMCS). His term will start from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2024.

On Saturday, November 12, 2022, Lakers Break the Ice on Mental Health returns after a two-year hiatus. Proudly presented by TD, Lakers Break the Ice on Mental Health is teaming up with NU Listens, the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation and the Nipissing Lakers varsity hockey teams to raise funds and awareness for mental health and emotional wellness.
