Nipissing appoints Renée Hacquard as new Vice-President, Finance and Administration

North Bay, ON - Nipissing University is pleased to announce the appointment of Renée Hacquard as Vice-President, Finance and Administration, effective July 1, 2024. Hacquard will succeed outgoing Vice-President, Cheryl Sutton, who will be retiring at the end of June following a 14-year tenure with the University.

Hacquard joined Nipissing University in 2019 and currently serves as Assistant Vice-President, Finance & Infrastructure. Prior to joining Nipissing in 2019, she spent nine years working in the social services sector for Community Living North Bay as Director, Corporate Services. She also spent six years in public accounting with Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, and sister company, Grant Thornton, while obtaining her Chartered Professional Accountant/Chartered Accountant designation.

“Renée’s professional background and deep understanding of Nipissing’s financial and administrative structures will serve her well in this senior leadership role,” said Dr. Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice-Chancellor, Nipissing University. "I look forward to continuing to work with Renée in this new capacity and to the expertise she will bring as we build towards a bright and sustainable future for Nipissing.”

In addition to her professional credentials, Hacquard is bilingual (fluent in English and French) and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (hons) from the University of Ottawa. She has held a number of volunteer roles in the community, including serving on the Capitol Centre Board as Treasurer from 2013-17.  Originally from New Liskeard, Ontario, Hacquard now lives in North Bay with her husband and two daughters.

“Nipissing University is entering an exciting time in its history, and I’m pleased to be able to play a leadership role in advancing the University’s strategic commitments,” said Hacquard. “Since joining the University, I’ve had the opportunity to lead a number of key projects and become well acquainted with the complexities of the post-secondary sector. I’m grateful for the mentorship I’ve received along the way and look forward to bringing my own leadership style and strengths to the position.”
