Our Founders House Residence Complex is the smallest of our Suite Style Residence complexes and houses around 200 students, but don’t get the idea that its size makes it any less great! It’s preferred by our Nursing students because it is within walking distance to the North Bay Regional Health Centre. It is located at the bottom of College Drive, adjacent to the Chancellors House Residence Complex, just minutes from the Main Campus.

Our Governors House Residence Complex is located at the North end of our campus, near the Harris Learning Library and Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre. It’s preferred by our Varsity Athletes because of its proximity to our Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics, so our residents never have trouble finding ways to show off their LAKERS pride! It offers students a picturesque view of our beautiful campus.

Our Townhouse Residence Complex is nestled within mature trees and green space on the edge of our campus next to the main academic building, and is our designated upper year student residence. It offers the students who live here a peaceful environment where they can live among their peers and focus on their academic commitments.

Peer2Peer Indigenous Mentorship Initiatives connects upper year Indigenous Nipissing University students with Indigenous students that are newer to post-secondary education, and/or are looking for additional resources and supports.

At Nipissing University, students of Indigenous cultural and/or ancestral background can choose to self-identify through a voluntary and confidential online process. By doing so, students connect to the on-campus Indigenous student community and have increased access to information about specialized programs and services.

Biidaaban Youth Group (BYG) is an after school program for Indigenous youth in grades 3, 4, and 5. Nipissing University student employees support youth with their homework and host a total of fifteen cultural, social and artistic activities.

In Anishnaabemwin "debwendizon" is related to the Seven Grandfather Teachings – the teaching of debwewin or truth – and means "to believe in yourself." Debwendizon is an annual Indigenous Youth Education Gathering.

The Nipissing University Indigenous Council on Education (NUICE) is an advisory body to and resource for the Office of Indigenous Initiatives and Nipissing University.

The Student Success Coordinator advises new and returning Indigenous (First Nations, Metis and Inuit) students and enhances their educational experience through a holistic approach to support.
