Celebrate Leadership: Nominations sought for 2025 Dave Marshall Leadership Awards
Each year, Nipissing University recognizes exceptional leaders through the Dave Marshall Leadership Awards (DMLA). Help us celebrate the leaders who are inspiring change on campus and beyond by nominating a deserving student by January 31, 2025. Annually, 25 full-time students are recognized with a Dave Marshall Leadership Award. These students have made an outstanding extracurricular contribution to their academic program, to the campus, or to the greater community. They have demonstrated leadership, initiative, commitment, and an ability to motivate and influence others toward the betterment of Nipissing University. - article

For Rebecca Wakelin, the path to becoming an educator, and ultimately a leader in higher education development, began unexpectedly. Raised in Northern Ontario, Wakelin’s childhood dream was to become a lawyer. However, while applying to universities, she included Nipissing University’s Bachelor of Education program as a fourth choice, influenced by her roommates pursuing teaching. - article

Nursing graduate Hayden Lloyd receives Nipissing’s First Chancellor’s Medal for Humanity
This year, a new tradition was born at Nipissing University’s Convocation—one that celebrates compassion, empathy, and the quiet, powerful work of building a better world. The Chancellor’s Medal for Humanity, introduced by Chancellor Dr. Scott Russell and his wife, Catherine Gregory, honours a graduating student who has made a meaningful impact through acts of inclusion, respect, and service.
