Nipissing set to welcome students for Move-In 2023

Nipissing University is ready to welcome undergraduate students to residence this Saturday, August 26 for the University’s annual Move-In Day.

Residence Move-in Day

Move-In Day is an annual Nipissing Residence tradition that provides a structured and welcoming experience for students as they transition to the next phase of their academic journey. To ensure a well-organized move-in experience for all who arrive, appointments are made in advance for specified dates and times, and students are encouraged to bring supporters to assist with their move.

“Move-in day is always such an exciting time as we welcome undergraduate students to our Residence community,” shared Valerie Edmunds, Acting Manager of Residence Life at Nipissing University. “We have an incredible team on-hand who are happy to answer any questions and to help ensure a seamless transition to residence life.”

Students will be moving into one of four award-winning residences: Chancellors House, Founders House, Governors House, or the Townhouse Complex, all of which are located minutes from Nipissing’s Main Campus, Learning Library, the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) Student Centre and the R.J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre.

Residence provides students with a safe, comfortable living and learning environment in which they can grow as individuals and make lasting friendships and memories. The mission of the Residence Life Team is to build a sense of community within the Nipissing residence system to facilitate personal growth, and academic development.

Move-in 2023 will continue throughout the following week and on Saturday, September 2, when the University welcomes Bachelor of Education students to campus.

Students will have the opportunity to get to know their neighbours and the Residence Life Team during a welcome mixer in their residence community rooms on Move-In Day (August 26 and September 2) followed by Residence-specific orientation events.

Students can also get acquainted with campus life and their fellow Lakers the following week during OWLS (Orientation Welcome Learning & Social) Week where they will have the opportunity to participate in various activities including, Amazing Race, headphone disco, Muddy Olympics, Trivia Night, and a beach day.
