ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
LivingWorks ASIST is a two-day, in-person workshop that equips participants with practical skills to provide suicide first aid. Through engaging audiovisuals, group discussions, and hands-on simulations, you’ll learn how to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide and how to intervene effectively.

TA Workshop: Planning for Active Learning
In this session, Teaching Assistants will learn a model of lesson planning (BOPPPS) for active learning, while experiencing some active learning techniques along the way that can be adapted in a variety of disciplinary contexts. By the end of the session, TA’s will be able to use a template to plan a learning experience for in-person or online students that includes active learning.

Looking Forward: Preventing Suicide in Youth
Looking Forward is an interactive half-day workshop created for adults working with youth aged 12 to 24. Looking Forward encompasses the developmental, cognitive, and emotional differences found within this age group in presenting strategies to strengthen the protective factors of youth considering suicide. Relevant intervention strategies are explored through videos and case studies.

Drop-In Supports (A238)
The Academic Skills Drop-In Centres are accessible to all Nipissing University students and provide a peer support network and resource. Peer Educators who operate the centres bring a wealth of experience from a variety of departments. They are trained in helping students on a one-on-one basis with general academic skills such as study strategies, note-taking skills, time management strategies, and more. They are able to provide students with academic resources and referrals to other services. - page

Become a Tutor
We are always looking for knowledgeable tutors who have attained a course score of 75% or higher in the course they would like to tutor. Many tutors choose to tutor in several courses. As a paid tutor you can gain valuable teaching experience with a schedule you set based on your own availability. - page
