Biography

Before becoming a Laker, I worked with both the provincial and federal governments on collaborative research projects related to climate change. At Nipissing University, most of my teaching involves plant biology, ecology, evolution, and environmental science. Since 2009, I have also taught first-year biology, and it has been my pleasure to welcome new students as they start their journey at Nipissing University. In 2012, I joined a pedagogy-focused Community of Practice called the Open Consortium of Undergraduate Biology Educators (oCUBE - https://www.ocube.ca/). Exploring evidence-based teaching approaches I learn from oCUBE models my commitment to foster life-long learning and has enriched the teaching and learning experience for both me and my students.
