Next Steps
- Book a campus tour, attend Open House or both - Visit www.nipissingu.ca/tour to register, call (705) 474-3450 ext. 4200 or email nuinfo@nipissingu.ca.
- Apply for scholarships, awards and bursaries by May 1 - Don’t wait for your offer to apply. Visit www.nipissingu.ca/financialaid to apply now.
- Check your mailbox - Offers are mailed out starting in January and continue through to June. Admission decisions for limited enrolment programs (Nursing and Physical and Health Education) will be made in April and May.
Important Dates for New Students
Nipissing University makes ongoing offers of admission starting as early as January rather than making admission decisions in separate rounds. We continue to make offers of admission through to June when midterm/interim and final grades are received from the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). Notes:
- Free tuition is based on domestic tuition and 100% course load.
- Student are only eligible for the first four years of undergraduate study.
- Concurrent BEd students in years 5 and 6 of study, and Consecutive BEd students in the 2-year program are not eligible for the renewal of these scholarships.
Entrance Awards and Bursaries
Apply for all high school entrance awards and bursaries with just one application, even before you’ve received your Offer of Admission. Complete and submit the application form by May 1st at www.nipissingu.ca/entranceawards.
$10,000 Chancellor’s Awards
- Awarded to two first-year students
- Entering full-time undergraduate studies (first entry only)
- Minimum average of 85%, evidence of personal leadership activities, and financial need
- Renewable at $3,000 per year
$500 – $3,000+ Entrance Awards
- Need-based awards and bursaries
- Entering undergraduate studies directly from secondary school
Residence Life and Applications
We think a great way to get the full campus experience includes living in residence. That’s why all current Ontario secondary students who receive full-time admission by May 29, 2025, and meet the residence application and deposit deadline of June 2, 2025, are guaranteed a single room in one of our award-winning suite-style residences. Applicants must accept a full-time admission offer and send in a residence application and deposit by June 2, 2025.
All residences are fully furnished with a bed, desk and dresser in each room, and a couch, tables and chairs. The kitchens are decked out with all the large appliances you’ll need. As you meet and get to know your roomies in advance of move-in day through some of the social media venues we set up, you may want to divide and conquer the list of other amenities to bring.

Campus Life and Student Support
We offer a variety of supports and activities on campus to help you succeed and provide you with a rich student life experience.
NUWork - Our on-campus work study program provides students with access to part-time positions on campus. Participants must meet financial eligibility requirements to be eligible. The majority of work study positions begin in September so students are encouraged to apply in August.
Financial Aid - There are many different options for funding sources and assistance such as special bursaries and scholarships through companies you’ve worked for, or awards through your supporters’ employers or community agencies. We have a variety of financial support avenues available to you such as: OSAP, scholarships, awards and bursaries so talk to your guidance counsellor about looking into these opportunities.
Off-Campus Living - Thinking of living off campus? You have many options available in the city of North Bay that are conveniently located close to campus.
