Extended Learning Youth Camps invite children to participate in camps themed around physical and health education, literacy, and science.  These hands-on, engaging camps will take place during Professional Development (PD) Days, March Break, Summer and select weekends throughout the year.  We look forward to welcoming children to campus to meet new friends, explore enriched learning opportunities and get active with our qualified educators and coaches.

COVID-19 Expectations

Pre-Screening Requirements

In accordance with guidelines set out by public health authorities, all staff and participants must complete a pre-visit screening each day before using our facilities. If staff or participants do not pass the Ontario Self-Assessment, they are asked to remain home and follow the guidelines provided for self-isolation and testing. 

Screening must continue to be completed on the day of your visit. Parents or guardians accompanying participants into the camp areas must also complete a pre-screening in order to enter our facilities.  There will be designated drop-off/sign-in and pick-up/sign-out areas for parents or guardians.  Please see the maps provided for details.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

Subject to change based on provincial guidelines.

  • After June 20, 2022 masks are encouraged be worn during the entire entry and exit processes to the camp facilities.
  • Masking is encouraged indoors when not participating in physical activity.
  • Masks are not required to be worn outdoors or when eating/drinking.
  • Participants and parents/guardians should sanitize their hands before entering the facility.
  • Regular hand hygiene is encouraged.  Hand sanitizing stations will be available for participant & staff use.  Hand hygiene should occur:
    • Before and after eating or using shared equipment
    • After activities, toileting, sneezing, or blowing their nose
    • Before touching their faces
  • Physical distancing of 6ft or 2m should be maintained indoors
  • Proper respiratory hygiene education will be provided for all staff and participants.  Ensuring coughing/sneezing into their elbow, sleeve or tissue.
  • Participants should bring their own water bottles.  There will be refill stations available.
  • Participants should not share personal belongings (i.e., clothing, towels, water bottle, etc.).
  • Equipment, high touch surfaces, and spaces will be sanitized regularly and as needed.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Please notify us a minimum of one week prior to the camp start date.  Failure to cancel registration one week prior to the camp start date may result in full or partial registration charges.  If the cancellation is due to an injury, illness or special circumstances, please contact our Extended Learning team to discuss.

Nipissing University reserves the right to cancel Youth Camps without notice.  Should a cancellation take place registrants will receive notification in writing with as much notice as possible along with a full refund. 

An administration fee of $10 for registrations less than $200/person and $20 for registrations over $200/person will be applied.

Girls Peak Performance Camp

Hosted by the Lakers Women's Volleyball team!

Join the Nipissing Lakers Varsity Women’s Team for a girls only Peak Performance Volleyball camp!  Advanced skills are required.  Participants must play on a high school team or club and must stay within the age group they played with in 2021-22. 

Campers should bring:

Ages: U12 - U18

Dates: July 25 - 29, 2022 & August 8 - 12, 2022

9:00am - 12:00pm: U12 - U14 club team played in 2021-22 season

Boys Volleyball Performance Camp

Boys Volleyball Performance Camp

Hosted by Lakers Men's Volleyball team!

This 1-week program will focus on fine tuning fundamental skills while introducing advanced skills and offering physical testing (T-test, spike touch, block touch) In addition, athletes will be introduced to video analysis and mental agility training in an environment that is challenging yet conducive to their development and growth. This camp is intended for athletes who have the desire to pursue volleyball at the next level. 

Campers should bring:

Ages: 15+

Dates: August 8 - 12, 2022

Time:  9:00am to 3:00pm

Come learn and develop your FUNdamentals of the game with Lakers Men’s Volleyball. This is a co-ed camp open to campers with varying skill levels!

Ages: 9-15 (co-ed)

Hosted by the Lakers Women's Hockey team!

We are excited to offer two separate weeks of camps this year.  Once again, our camps will be run by current members of the Nipissing Lakers Women's Hockey team and will include both on (1 1/2 hours) and off ice sessions (1 1/2 hours) daily.  
This is a great opportunity for all female hockey players to be guided through the camp by female players that they can look up to.

Lakers Basketball Camp

Hosted by the Lakers Women's and Men's Basketball teams!

This co-ed program teaches the fundamentals of Basketball with an emphasis on improving specific skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork) in a positive yet challenging environment. 

In addition to basketball fundamentals, we focus on team building activities that foster skills in communication, teamwork, and goal setting. The players will compete in a group setting while playing in a weekly league. The players will challenge their current skill level, allowing continuous growth throughout the week. Activities and game play provide participants with an opportunity to develop fundamentals and advanced technical and tactical skills. 

Hosted by Lakers Men’s and Women’s Basketball, this is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your skills and have lots of fun this Summer!

Nordic Dryland Camp

Lakers Nordic Dryland Camp

Hosted by the Lakers Nordic Ski team!

The aim of this camp is to establish fitness baselines through dryland exercises, including a team sprint skate rollerski race with the option of a mentored introduction to rollerskiing in lieu of racing for younger skiers..

Campers should bring:

  • Water bottle/sports drink

  • Heart rate monitor (optional)
  • Running shows
  • Skate Rollerskis, boots & poles, sharp tips
  • classic ski boots

Nordic Volume Camp

Nipissing Lakers Nordic Volume Camp

Hosted by the Lakers Nordic Ski team!

The aims of this camp are to develop efficient ski technique, covering ground to put in a solid volume of cross-country ski training in a fun setting.

Campers should bring:

  • Skate Rollerskis, boots & poles, sharp tips
  • Classic Rollerskis

Lakers Learn to Row Camp

Hosted by the Lakers Rowing Team!

Designed to teach you how to row, discipline in sport, fitness and teamwork.  As participants become more comfortable rowing they can focus more on fitness and speed development on the water. Camps are led by Nipissing University's Alumni and former Olympian Khash Abbasabadi. Boats and oars are provided. Participants MUST know how to swim and there is a height requirement of 160 cm (minimum). 

A motorboat with life jackets will always follow the participants while on the water.

Campers should bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Weather appropriate clothing
  • A smile

Participants are allowed and encouraged to sign up for all weeks as returning participants will continue to increase their skills with intermediate level learnings in the later weeks.

Ages: 13+

Dates: August 15 - 19, 2022 & August 22 - 26, 2022

**3 Days a week: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday**
