Nipissing professor named Canada Research Chair in Climate and Environmental Change
ResearchGeneralYesterday, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced an investment of more than $139 million to support 176 new and renewed Canada Research Chairs across Canada. Nipissing University is pleased to congratulate Dr. Colin McCarter who has been named Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Climate and Environmental Change and the recipient of $600,000 in funding. McCarter is an Assistant Professor cross-appointed in the Department of Geography and the Department of Biology and Chemistry in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Nipissing University. -
NU Alumnus Receives Prestigious Award for Teaching Excellence
Nipissing University lecturer and alumnus, Anna Pearson, has been awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence in recognition of her “remarkable achievements in education and a commitment to preparing students for a digital and innovation-based economy.” -
Doll-Making Workshop to Support Local Ukrainian Refugees
Nipissing University’s Extended Learning department invites members of the community to take part in a Ukrainian doll-making workshop at the NUSU Student Centre (221 College Drive, North Bay), on Thursday, October 27 at 6 p.m. in support of two families who recently relocated to North Bay from Ukraine. The cost to attend this event is $15 per person. -
Michelann Parr Named Schulich Teaching Chair of Open Education Resource Development
Nipissing University is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelann Parr as the Schulich Teaching Chair of Open Education Resource (OER) Development. Parr is currently a professor in the Schulich School of Education and has worked at Nipissing full time for over 20 years. She is also a proud Laker alumnus, having earned three degrees from Nipissing University. -
NUBASE Reveals Name of Inaugural BIPOC Bursary
On Sunday, September 25, the Nipissing University Black Association for Student Expression (NUBASE) announced that the university’s first-ever bursary for BIPOC students would be named after Warren Lindsay, Director of Services at the Nipissing University Student Union and an active member of NUBASE. -
New Scholarship to Benefit Female Students at Nipissing University
NORTH BAY, ON – Nipissing University and the Canadian Federation of University Women North Bay (CFUW North Bay) are pleased to announce the establishment of a new scholarship in memory of Dr. Diana Walton, a French Language and Classical Studies professor at Nipissing University for 37 years who passed away last year following a battle with cancer.
Nipissing appoints Renée Hacquard as new Vice-President, Finance and Administration
Nipissing University is pleased to announce the appointment of Renée Hacquard as Vice-President, Finance and Administration, effective July 1, 2024. Hacquard will succeed outgoing Vice-President, Cheryl Sutton, who will be retiring at the end of June following a 14-year tenure with the University.
