Current & Future Research:
I'm currently working on a SSHRC-supported study of the International Nickel Company of Canada Ltd (INCO) and its interests and activities in the Pacific territory of New Caledonia from the 1960s to the 1980s. This study examines the expansion of Canadian/North American interests in the Pacific region, INCO's responses to the internationalisation and globalisation of the nickel industry, the political and economic evolution of New Caledonia, and relations between Canada, the United States, and France in the late 20th century. This is part of a broader study that will also examine other INCO operations in Guatemala and Indonesia as well.
